Leather Anniversary

Today I met the boy I'm gonna marry
He's all I wanted all my life and even more
He smiled at me and the music started playing
Here comes the bride when he walked through the door

Today I met the boy I'm gonna marry
The boy who's life and dreams and love I wanna share
The boy whose on my hand a band of gold will bear
The band of gold I always dreamed I'd wear

When we kissed
I felt a sweet sensation
This time it wasn't just my imagination

Today I met the boy I'm gonna marry
He's just what I've been waiting for oh yes
With every kiss it's as if my heart keeps saying
Today I met the boy I'm gonna marry

Six years ago today I met the boy I married three years ago today. (I also discovered this past weekend that he gave me the same card for our 1st and 2nd anniversaries.)

I LOVE YOU DANNY

Time and Season

I frequently remind myself that there is a time and season for everything. I'm not referring to noon in the winter but rather that you can't do everything everyday and therefore different things take priority at different moments in our lives.

For example, Danny and I used to play tennis multiple times a week in lower Manhattan. We had some great laughs and good fun (usually not so great tennis). We only played a couple times last summer because we were both working and we spent the weekends doing other things. We both look back fondly on our tennis time and wish we played the same amount now but our lives are filled with other activities at the moment.

Mostly my 'time and season' self pep-talks revolve around a hobby or favorite past time that I feel like I'm missing out on. But I only have 24 hours in the day to fill and therefore it is impossible to do everything. If I just kept adding things to my days/weeks/months/years without taking anything away I wouldn't be able to enjoy the things I am currently focusing on.

The great thing about 'time and season' means that just because I'm not involved in something right now doesn't mean it won't become a focus again in my future.

Scotty McCreery

America... meet the Justin Bieber of country music. He's so good I have cried (multiple times). This week he sang 'The River' by Garth Brooks. I had the flu and subsequently was dying on the couch so I didn't even open my eyes during his performance (although Danny made sure to wake me up). But when they did the recap at the end of the episode I teared up for the 2 seconds that they showed him. This boy makes me giggle so I voted for him. (I've never voted for an American Idol contestant in the entire 10 seasons).

Look out - Scotty is destined for greatness.

Star Performer

My boss said I'm doing such a great job that....
I'm getting a parking space!

I laughed so hard I died.

Joys of Corporate America

Two things I'm enjoying right now:

1) Candy bars masquerading as health bars.
2) Warm paper fresh off the copy machine. Reminds me of when my mom would pull a blanket out of the dryer and lay it on top of me.

Drawer of Dreams

It's winter and the best time to remain indoors. I love sloshing through the dark streets after work and knowing that the best party is right at home. However with all this time partying on our 20x5 foot dance floor(aka our apartment) this leads to an urge to declutter and organize. It's been a lot easier to purge this season because I realized if I own something that I haven't used while we've lived in our apartment then I know I haven't used it in 3 whole years! Items like that are just stunting my potential.

One problem used to be that shirts would get disorganized in my drawers after continually pulling out shirts from the bottom of tall piles. Also, I would mostly rotate through the same shirts week after week because they were always placed on top after laundry day. Season after season I would forget to wear items because they would get crumpled and swallowed up at the bottom of the drawer.
My solution: file the shirts in drawers. I can see everything at a glance and the piles aren't falling over every time I remove a shirt. I highly recommend you try this because you have nothing to lose.
